New hair salon for Scottburgh’s Tudor Gardens donated by resident Jean

The salon was named ‘Lady Cordelia’ in honour of Jean's daughter who is in the United Kingdom.

Scottburgh’s retirement home, Tudor Gardens, held an open day for the public to celebrate the opening of their new hairdressing salon last Friday.

Chairman of Tudor Gardens, Howard Smith, welcomed all the residents and guests and said: “We have achieved much in the last year, from painting to gardening, to building a hair salon and we are so proud of how far we’ve come.”

Howard described the retirement home as a beautiful cake with the new hair salon being the icing on the cake.

A general word of thanks went out to all who helped with the upkeep of the home and the improvements.

Special mention was made of resident Jean Pinkerton, who donated the new hair salon to the home.

Jean who was flushed with emotions at the ribbon cutting ceremony named the salon ‘Lady Cordelia’ in honour of her daughter who is back in the United Kingdom.

“I did this with love and to give back to Tudor Gardens. I’m just so thankful to everyone for all of their love and support,” she said.

A beautiful bouquet of flowers awaited Jean inside the hair salon as a token of appreciation from the residents and staff at Tudor Gardens.
