As one of the emerging industry sectors on the South Coast, Senzo has been at the forefront of film development. He took the opportunity to share his journey in this industry that has connected him to international filmmakers.

With a few local movies under his belt, Senzo has been actively working on two movies which have drawn international interest – The Zulu Warrior and Red Cargo.

Having obtained recognition after starting out from humble beginnings, Senzo has worked tirelessly to ensure that those who follow in his footsteps have the best possible chance to succeed. He has formed the South Coast Filmmakers Association which will serve as a platform to develop and support the local film industry.

Senzo is also known for his Ugu Film Festival, an event that he created to drive his vision of enticing international filmmakers to come to the South Coast.

In addition the event is used as a springboard to provide local filmmakers with an opportunity to take part and network with the international film industry.

He also plans to launch the Henry Cele Awards, a new event that is expected to attract investors and international tourists to our shores.

In talking about the film industry and its potential, he said, “We need property developers and investors to design and build unique structures that will brand and make the South Coast unique. Clothing designers need to start manufacturing and designing clothing that promotes our area. Builders and setmakers need to learn how to construct film sets, and sound engineers and musicians must learn film scores. The accommodation and service industry will also benefit greatly,” he said.

The South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the local body that supports the various sectors of the economy. Businesses are encouraged to take membership. For more information on the Chamber contact Vijay Naidoo at 083 700 5427 or email: president@sccci.org.za.
