Tweni Talk: Community salutes unsung crime watch hero

He works tirelessly and does an excellent job getting information to everyone 'down south'.

The Tweni community needs to acknowledge the Pumula Crime Watch spokesman, who does such an excellent job getting information to everyone ‘down south’ – especially with the recent abduction that took place.

His name is known, but he would rather remain out of the limelight. Huge bouquets to him.

Conservancy to the rescue

A very big thank you to Jan Meyer and Alex Skene of the Umtentweni Conservancy for coming to the rescue of Tweni Crime Watch cameras by trimming the tree branches obscuring their view.

Please check first

With regards to a rumour circulating about a well-known community member having died last weekend, your scribe is very pleased to report that the person is alive, well and safe at home.

Please make sure that facts are confirmed before posting rumours on social media.

Update on Andrew

Andrew de Witt, a sufferer of transverse myelitis that can cause paralysis, flew to Nelspruit and had his first platelet transfer, which, according to him, went well.

As yet there are no results to publish, but do look out for fundraiser efforts entitled ‘Let’s help Andrew’ that will be held in the near future.

Depot dumping

Commercial Road was in an appalling state again last weekend and this time soiled nappies were strewn around.

Dogs and monkeys open bags there, and people are asked to remember that this depot is intended for recycling only. Dispose of anything else outside homes on designated refuse collection days.

Awesome anglers

Tweni youngsters Kyle Solomon and Kyle Hielckert spent a morning out at sea recently and managed to tag and release eight fish between them.

On the mend

Get well wishes go to Bobbi McConnell after she recently had a fall and broke her hip.

Her daughter Lynn-Dee van Eeden has been extremely concerned and will be looking for a carer for when Bobbi is back home.

Three cheers

Happy birthday to Nadine Nichols (May 6), Maria Rosaria Alfieri (7th), Shaun Donald (8th), Louis Joubert (9th), Charlotte Whitaker (10th) and Candy Torr (12th).
