Southcity raises funds for Ashton

The community is urged to keep this brave boy and his family in their prayers.

Southcity Preparatory, comprising grades 000 to 7, supports the annual Slipper Day – a fund-raiser for the Reach for a Dream Foundation.

This year, the school raised funds in support of young Ashton Dry from Port Edward, diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in February.

He has started aggressive chemotherapy and appeals have been made for stem cell donors for Ashley’s bone marrow transplant.

Pupils are commended for their concern and support and the community is urged to keep this brave boy and his family in their prayers.

All proceeds will be paid into an established fund to assist with Ashton’s treatment.

The college hosted Scottburgh last Saturday. Hockey – the first and U14 teams won their matches.

Netball – the first and U14 teams won and the second team lost.

Rugby – the first team won 20-10, U15 lost 0-15 and the second team (U18) lost 10-15 to the U18 development U18 team.

The U13 and U14 teams played U14 development and won 30-0.
