Chad’s cricket star on the rise

It was an entertaining innings from a youngster with a lot of potential.

CHAD Laycock (16) of Umtentweni has grown a bit since he left for boarding school in Durban a few years ago.

So it’s no surprise really that his cricket has also flourished, and he is now clearing boundary ropes with ease.

He recently played for the Hibiscus Coast Ballies in a 35 over semi-final against the Kings at Port Shepstone Country Club.

The former Izotsha Primary pupil who is now at Glenwood High, cracked a brilliant 163 not out.

It was an entertaining innings from a youngster with a lot of potential.

The Ballies played in the final on May 19 and were beaten by Knockout by 126 runs.

At school, Chad plays for the first team and also the U16A hockey team.

He travels to Ireland in a few weeks’ time for two months as an exchange student playing only cricket at the clubs there.
