BREAKING: Water plant vandalised in Bhobhoyi protest

Several areas will now be without water.

Ugu District Municipality has issued a statement saying that the main water supply line from the Bhobhoyi plant to Marburg has been vandalised due to the unrest in the Bhobhoyi area.

The statement reads, “Murchison supply is non-existent due to us not being able to get staff in to start pumps and open valves to feed the area, especially the hospital. We are unable to get there to assess damage and repair. Supply line has been closed to conserve water.”

The following areas will have no water:

* Marburg industrial area

* Marburg

* Merlewood

* Jesus Location

* Mkholombe

* Oslo Beach

According to the municipality the tanker filling points have no supply so they will not be able to dispatch emergency relief.
