Hibberdene Happenings: Happy travels for local ‘jet-setters’
Passports are in hand and luggage is packed.
TWO local women jet off to the UK during the week and they are both wished memorable, happy holidays and safe travelling to and from their destinations. Phyllis Michaelis of the River Resort leaves for Johannesburg today (Wednesday) to spend a couple of days with her son Norman Michaelis and his wife Sarah.

Round trip
From there she will move on to Wessex and Sussex respectively, where she will spend time with her son Sean Michaelis and his wife Fiona and daughter and son-in-law Frances and Grant Butler. She will also visit her brother Timothy ‘006’ Dalton at his home in Tipperary in Ireland before returning home. Timothy spent some time visiting Phyllis some years ago and is a delightful character.
Bon voyage
Jill Whitmore of Leisuredene leaves for Milton Keynes in England a few days later to visit her sister Janet Price. She will be away for a month and is sure to have a wonderful time.
Diarise the market
Don’t forget to head out to Mtwalume on Saturday, June 1, from 9am, for the next flea and craft market. The venue is the grassy area adjoining the swimming pool at Koelwaters Resort and, if the turnout at the last market is anything to go by, an excellent attendance can be expected.
Andy Els will once again present his special brand of music and all the usual stallholders and more are expected to exhibit wares. As normal, tables are free of charge – contact Sue Paterson at 082 4002616.
Note the date
Mizpah Church’s men’s breakfast on Saturday went off very well and the men enjoyed the inspiring talk by Anton Roos of Umtentweni. The next breakfast takes place on the third Saturday in June, the 15th.

Moms, dads and teenagers – have you remembered the Winter Camp to be held at Oribi Bible Camp near Oribi Gorge from July 4 to 7 (three nights)?
Young people from grades 8 to 12 are warmly invited. Participants may be of any denomination and the cost is very reasonable.

Crossing the border
Your scribe’s sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Ken Woodley of Estcourt have returned from a game-viewing trip to Botswana, during which they enjoyed a helicopter flip over the Okavango and a boat trip up the Chobe River. They enjoyed it immensely and found the Botswana people to be friendly, pleasant and polite.
Thoughts and prayers
Marie van Rensburg continues to recuperate after her car accident, but Doug Henderson’s mom Felicity Howe is not at all well and is presently in hospital. Both families are wished well in this time of pain and anxiety.
