Sheppie Snippets: Support high tea this Saturday

The non-profit organisation, based in Port Shepstone is hosting a fundraising event.

High tea

Hope on the Move, a non-profit organisation, based in Port Shepstone will be hosting a fundraising High Tea at the Margate Hotel this Saturday, June 1 at 2pm. Tickets cost R100 per person. Guest speaker will be Jason Govender from the Keshivan Helping Hand committee.

Jesse James will provide the entertainment. There will be prizes up for grabs and part of proceeds will go to Rare Diseases SA.

Quiz night

South Coast Hospice will host its ‘Quiz Night’ at the Port Shepstone Lion’s Den on Ambleside Road, Umtentweni this Thursday, May 30 at 6pm for 6.30pm. Cost is R25 per person and teams of two to eight are welcome. To book call Joy at 079 3092874 or 039 6823031.

Dinner and dance

Mount Moriah Full Gospel Church will host a fund-raising banquet at the Andhra Sabha Hall on Saturday, June 1 at 4pm. Don’t miss an evening of entertainment, music, drama, dance, sumptuous meals and lucky draws. Tickets cost R100 for adults and R50 for children. Floral show

The South Coast Floral Art Club invites all flower lovers to its 2019 fund-raiser at the Margate Methodist Church on June 4 at 9am. Flower demonstrations will be conducted by Heila Groenewald, a qualified judge and demonstrator, who has joined the club from the North West. There will be lots of entertainment and beautiful flower arrangements will be on display.

Anne Brandt, a member of the South Coast Floral Art Club, invites all flower lovers to its 2019 fund-raiser to be held at the Margate Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 4 from 9am.

Food festival

Christ The King Catholic Church is hosting its fourth International Food Festival at St Martin de Porres school grounds on June 8 at 9am. There will be scrumptious food on sale from various countries. Tuck into dishes such as lamb breyani, butter chicken, South Indian vegetarian dishes, traditional South African potjiekos and so much more. A tea garden will be selling tea, coffee, cakes and cool drinks. There will also be live music and dance shows. The Port Shepstone Regional Hospital will also be hosting a health stand. The event promises to be a fun day out for the whole family. Entry to the event is free, however tickets will be R10 per food portion. Bread of Heaven

The fund-raising campaign for the 2019 Bread of Heaven feeding programme has kicked off. The organising committee makes a special appeal to members of the public to volunteer to become fund-raising ambassadors for this year. The annual Bread of Heaven Fun Run/Walk will be held on September 7. Next Tuesday, June 4 will be the launch of the fund-raising ambassador campaign at Gate Ministries, Port Shepstone at 6.30 pm. Tamil eisteddfod

Vernon Govender and students of the Sa Re Ga Ma Music Academy invite interested students from the community and various schools to take part in the regional Tamil eisteddfod, which will take place soon in Port Shepstone. Students who are placed first will perform in the 57th inter-regional eisteddfod finals in Merebank, Durban on July 6 and 7. Rehearsals have already started.
