Sad news
Condolences to Alex Skene and family on the death of Alex Skene senior, formerly of Kokstad, but a resident of Tweni for a while.

Eye-opener
Travelling recently from Umtentweni through the Eastern Cape, North West Cape, Free State and back to KZN, your scribe must point out that some of the worst roads, besides the 4×4 trails in Richtersveld, are here on the South Coast.
Let’s hope things improve soon. In the meantime, a very big thank you to Graham McGill for repairing potholes in Chakas Road.
No communication
With no refuse collections last week, black bags were torn open, either by vagrants, dogs or monkeys and the contents strewn all over. Residents had to go out and re-bag the litter and take their bags back into their yards.
Due to the lack of confirmed communication from authorities, residents were encouraged not to put refuse out for collection last Monday and Tuesday, only to find out that a collection was taking place on Monday and residents who had already left for work would have missed the pickup.
Support Dave and Fran
Welcome to Naomi Herbst, new manager at The Venture Inn restaurant and bar. According to Mike Davies, there will be a fund-raiser event for Dave and Fran Marks today, Saturday (June 1) and there is a call for donations towards a hamper draw. Collections will gladly be received at the restaurant, but remember to provide a name and contact number on all deliveries.

Welcome back to Maria Alifieri, who has just returned from an overseas trip to visit family.
Gordon Mitchell has relocated to Widenham Retirement Village and is wished well in his new home.
Anne Lester has moved to Margate Retirement Village and no doubt will be very happy and once she makes new friends.
