During the day, there were pop the balloon competitions with great prizes. A snack hamper was raffled off and won by John Crammond. The pool competition winners were Llewellyn Noble and Shane Davidson. Various spot prizes were handed out during the day and Wayne Wridgway managed to raise R17 240 on auctioned items.

BT King the South Coast Hospice fundraising coordinator said this year the committee was led by Theresa Knox, under the guidance of Richard Phillips, one of the founder members of the Fallen Friends initiative. “The fundraising by these brave men and women start the day after each year’s event and culminates on the day of the event,” explained BT.

She said businesses, friends, family and all those who have been touched by the work that the South Coast Hospice does have raised this remarkable amount for patients receiving palliative care.

“Our organisation salutes everyone for their dedication, enthusiasm and perseverance in their efforts of fund-raising for those less fortunate than themselves. They have supported South Coast Hospice through the difficult times which has enabled us to continue offering palliative patient care within our local communities,” she said.
