Truck driver arrested after accident
He has been charged with driving without a licence, reckless and negligent driving and failure to stop after an accident.
A collision between a bakkie and a truck on the R102 at the Southport traffic lights on Wednesday thisnweek resulted in the driver of the bakkie being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
According to Lazer 911, response officers Tiaan Vermeulen and Robbie Pypers were on standby at Southport when they heard a huge bang.

They responded immediately, and noticed the driver of the truck driving off.
Mr Pypers gave chase and managed to pull the truck over near Pumula.
An off duty Saps officer arrived and the truck driver was arrested.
He is believed to be a Swazi national with no driver’s licence.
Police spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said the man was charged with driving without a licence, reckless and negligent driving and failure to stop after an accident.
He is due to appear in court soon.

A pedestrian was struck by a bakkie on the R102 near Makhoso location, Hibberdene last Friday at about 5.40pm.
“The 60-year-old man was struck while crossing the road. He suffered a fractured leg and head injuries and was taken to the clinic. A reckless and negligent driving case has been opened for investigation,” said Capt Mpinge.
In yet another accident, two vehicles collided between Palm Beach and Munster last Saturday. According to paramedic Craig Botha from KwaZulu Private Ambulance a car and a taxi collided on the R61.
“Two people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital,” said Mr Botha.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
