Barbie Meyer leaves her audience a little ‘Marico moonstruck’
Barbie has been hooked on Herman Charles Bosman since she was a little girl.
Barbie Meyer performed her magic yet again at her eagerly awaited sixth show, ‘Marico Moon’ at the Ramsgate Lion’s Club hall recently. The show based on the works of one of South Africa’s finest literary masters, Herman Charles Bosman was staged as a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast with the proceeds going to South Coast Hospice.

Barbie said she loves the moon in all its guises and this has always been a strong thread in Bosman’s work – so it seemed a natural angle for her to take in this new show.
“His work gets under your skin – I’ve been hooked since I was a little girl. And after every show I do I’m always left wanting to explore just a little more, wanting to re-read and share just one more story or poem. I work on other theatrical pieces and concepts but always seem to come home to Bosman’s work,” she said.
Herman Charles Bosman (1905-1951) was a South African writer and journalist who is widely regarded as the greatest short story writer to come out of this country. His books are considered some of the finest in the field of South-African literature.
