“The Izotsha Farmers’ Association has come out in strong opposition to the Southern Natal Joint Services Board’s proposal to position a Lower South Coast regional refuse dump at Oatlands. And it has warned that the three sites being investigated… are in water catchments of the river that lead directly to the Ramsgate lagoon and beach.”
1999
Three-and-a-half years after the event… “The Commission of Inquiry to investigate police conduct relating to the Shobashobane massacre is sitting at the Port Edward Police Camp hall.”

“Anyone who happened to be in Margate’s CBD at about 5.30pm on Tuesday last week may have spotted the mayor and mayoress, Johnny and Annatjie de Wet, tuk-tukking along in a new mode of transport which was launched in the town that evening. The Ginza Tuk Tuk taxi will operate from outside the Natal South Coast Publicity Association’s office at Margate’s beachfront.”

“An amalgamation is on the cards for Aiken Park, which has been facing the threat of closure for some time, and Suid-Natal High Schools, the proposal being to open a parallel-medium Special Division at Suid-Natal in January next year.”
