Port Shepstone Hospital offers medical circumcision

The programme is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Port Shepstone Regional Hospital will hold a male medical circumcision (MMC) at the hospital’s clinical teaching hall on Friday, June 14 from 8am to 4pm.

The programme is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

According to the hospital’s PRO, Phumza Morai the hospital has noted with great concern an increase in the number of uncircumcised males presenting with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

“Research has proven that men who are sexually active and have not been circumcised are at a high risk of contracting HIV and STIs. The male medical circumcision has been proven to improve hygiene and reduce the risk of contracting STIs including HIV,” said Mrs Morai.

Boys that are aged 10 years and below should come with parent/s or guardian/s for consent to the procedure.
