Special treats for South Coast seniors

Lighthouse Community Services organised a day of fun, lucky draws and wonderful prizes.

Senior citizens from Marburg and surrounds were treated to a day of entertainment, talks and lunch at the Lighthouse Community Services monthly seniors meeting at the Port Shepstone Rehab Centre last Saturday.

It was a day of fun, lucky draws and wonderful prizes. Dads were treated to special gifts ahead of Father’s Day this Sunday, June 16.

Sunil Singh, Lighthouse Community Services chairman said that many of the elderly are simply happy to escape the bleakness of the circumstances they live in, for just a short while.

“After all, it is, but a token of appreciation for what our seniors have given back to us over the decades by their generous example and community spirit. We want to let our seniors know that they have a place of value in our hearts,” he explained.

Mr Singh reminded seniors that the Lighthouse Community Services, which is run by volunteers, has a memorable day planned for them at the next monthly meeting which takes place at Port Shepstone Rehab Centre on Saturday, July 14 at 10am.
