Ramsgate whale deck is yarn bombed by ‘knit twits’

Even if you could not knit a stitch, you were given the opportunity to do so.

Knitters of all ages added a dash of colour to the surroundings of the Ramsgate Whale Deck, when they ‘yarn bombed’ the venue last Saturday. Globally, World Wide Knit In Public Day takes place on the second Saturday of June each year.

Even if you could not knit a stitch, you were given the opportunity to do so. Organiser of the event Hazel Voice of Ramsgate went all out to encourage as many local people as possible to be part of this global knit-in. She explained to the Herald that the World Wide Knit In Public Day was started by Danielle Landes in 2005.

“Her goal was to bring knitters together in a public location to knit and to enjoy each other’s company. Since then this slightly wacky, fun idea has earned massive global support,” she said.

“Our Knit In Public Day brought knitters, crocheters and those who create with fibre arts together for a morning of great fun,” explained Hazel.
