Visitors arrive
A huge welcome to all June mid-year holidaymakers, we hope you enjoy our beautiful South Coast and all it has to offer. Remember to keep your personal safety a top priority, keep valuables safe, lock up after yourselves and have consideration for locals. Abide by the by-laws – there have been quite a few reports regarding noisy neighbours partying with loud music until all hours. If you are concerned about anything, contact Law Enforcement at 039 6825555 or SAPS at 10111.
Lease cancelled
Ryan Ringo, general manager of Umthunzi Hotel and Conference (which has managed the beach kiosk for many years) thanks all for their support. Due to recent complications of opening times, as well as municipality issues, they have given one months’ notice to cancel the already expired month-to-month lease.
Power problem
An unplanned power cut at Umtentweni Library last week caused a few problems – people could return books but not take out new ones and the Woman’s Institute meeting booked in one of their rooms could not take place.
Excellent outing
A trip to see ‘Charlotte’s Web’ at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre last Saturday was extra special when your scribe and guests were invited backstage after the show.

It was amazing to see such an excellent performance presented, controlled and managed by only six people.
Surf’s up
Don’t forget Tweni’s Annual Surfing event of the year – the junior event takes place this Friday (21st) at 7.30am and seniors on Saturday (22nd) from 7.30am. This will culminate in the ‘Party of the Year’ at The Spot Backpackers. Contact Peter at 083 2850739 or Mike at 082 4565196.
Sincere thanks
Derick Celliers says ‘Another Hibiscus week bowling bonanza has come to an end. Thanks to all sponsors and people who helped make this a very special event.’
The club will host a ‘fun day’ next Sunday (30th) at 10am, with bowls first, followed by a potjie. Everyone, including non-bowlers are invited.
Join the bowlers
The cost to play bowls is R10pp and the lunchtime potjie is R30pp. Bowls will be available for those who do not own any. But, if you do not want to play bowls and just want to socialise, you are more than welcome to join for lunch. To assist with catering, please phone Derick Celliers at 039 6950008 or 073 1490590.
Happy occasions
Happy birthdays to Cole Conway and Sharlene Sherrard (18th), Valerie Smith (19th), Frazer Smith and Cilla Lindsay (21st) and Thomas Barry on June 22nd.
All news to Leila.
