A family of six different characters have been invited to work on the South Coast – Dizzy Daisy, Eish, The Student, Slasher, Boozy Doozy and Jawellnofine.

Penny Taylor of Harmony Hill Animal Rescue said that so much has been written and said about humans sharing living space with monkeys.
“You either love them or you hate them. As a conservationist and an avid veggie gardener I know the frustration of having split loyalties,” said Penny.
“The emotive issues involved in trying to control this problem sometimes develop into not very nice behaviour patterns on both sides. I believe it’s time to try something totally different to try and keep these sticky-fingered master thieves away. The good old fashioned scarecrow! Believe me, it works – I’ve got the best crop of pawpaws ever and nary a tooth mark to be seen,” she laughs.

“Let’s lighten up a little on the problem, have a laugh and see whether we can finally get the better of these primates,” said Penny.
They scarecrow family is built by Chris Dlamini and his helper Philani Lushaba by using scraps of material to dress them.
These deterrents are now available for a R150 with all proceeds going to Harmony Hill Rescue Havens.
