Pastor David Thorburn-Humphrey said congregants used to worship in Trafalgar, but the municipality had indicated that they wanted to sell the land on which the building stood.

“We had to look for alternative accommodation and in 2012, Allen Peckham offered us the old mission church – so our anniversary celebrations take place every September, in honour of our first opening service on September 16, 2012,” he said.

Congregants got to sing their favourite hymns and thank you notes, which had been placed in a jar during the year by church members, were read out.

After the service non-perishable goods were on sale, with the proceeds being donated to the Pro Deo Care Group for its feeding scheme.
