This task took three weeks to complete and was funded with donations received from the Waffle House as well as some very generous local Ramsgate residents.

Other projects completed are the maintenance of damaged and rusted hinges, doors, door locks and truss hangers which were replaced/repaired.

Work done was on a voluntary basis by Stephen Goodhead of the Fairhill Caravan Park and his maintenance team.

RC supplied all the materials and Stephen and his team supplied the labour and use of his tools.

“Besides the above completed tasks, the maintenance project is still very much in progress. We intend to repaint the WD balustrades (not included in the deck refurbishment) and the interior and exterior of the WD building itself including the exterior wood work in the surrounding veranda area,” said treasurer, Adrian Voice.

These will have to be community projects and RC members to called to assist.

There are still some key improvements to be undertaken, including installing pathway balustrades and lighting up the pathway for our evening events.

This all requires funding and once again, an appeal is sent out to the community for donations to assist the financing of these projects as well as the administrative costs for ensuring these projects are completed and finances properly accounted for.

One project which has taken off with much enthusiasm is the Dune Garden Project.

This entails changing the current RC dune property into an indigenous garden to be an attraction to all residents and visitors to the Ramsgate Village.

This is a longer-term project and has taken off initially under the guidance of Anne Skelton and now is under the supervision and guidance of Ushie Teicher from the Ramsgate Retirement Village. Thank you Ushie and all the kind people who donated plants and compost to the project

Should you wish to become more involved in the RC and its efforts to make Ramsgate a proud and envied conservation area, please contact Adrian Voice at adrianvoice@gmail.com and a membership form will be forwarded to you.

For any person wishing to assist financially, please send monies/donations contact 083 286 7901.
