Sizwe Ngcobo to head up Ugu
Mr Ngcobo who has been a councillor for almost 20 years, confirmed his resignation and said he was ready for his new deployment.
Former Umzumbe mayor, Sizwe Ngcobo, expected to be sworn in as Ugu mayor today (Thursday), will have to wait a little longer before taking the hot seat.
This follows a directive from the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, pointing out that there were legislative processes to be followed before Mr Ngcono could be sworn in.

The processes, which could not be bypassed, include the listing of Mr Ngcobo as an Ugu councillor with the Independent Electoral Commission.
Insiders claim he must first be sworn in as a full-time Ugu councillor before he could officially be elected as mayor.
Mr Ngcobo, who was last week ordered to resign from his position by his political party, vacated his office yesterday (Wednesday).
He will be joining Ugu on a full-time basis after Mondli Chiliza’s departure to the KZN legislature in May this year.
Mr Ngcobo who has been a councillor for almost 20 years, confirmed his resignation and said he was ready for his new deployment.
“I served all these years on ANC deployments if I am sent somewhere as a disciplined cadre of my movement I am bound by its decisions,” he said.
He thanked everyone who supported him during his years as a councillor, speaker and recently mayor of Umzumbe.
Insiders in the ANC claimed the move to place Mr Ngcobo as Ugu mayor would give him an advantage over his opponents ahead of the party’s much anticipated Lower South Coast regional conference.
However, ANC spokesman Ricardo Mthembu said this had nothing to do with the conference and everything to do with the position of Ugu mayor.
“Yes, he is going take over as mayor of the Ugu district municipality soon,” he confirmed.
Umzumbe council speaker Matho Shozi said council had accepted Mr Ngcobo’s resignation, and wished him all the best with his new journey.
“We are excited for him yet there is obviously the uncertainty of losing such a great leader. We have worked well with him in the past two decades.”
Ugu council speaker, Ntombifuthi Gumede said she could not confirm when Mr Ngcobo would be sworn in as mayor.
