Sheppie Rotary helps lead the youth
Port Shepstone Rotary marked its 56th annual youth leadership course.
For the past 56 years, the Rotary Club of Port Shepstone has offered its highly regarded youth leadership course to pupils in grade 11, who are identified as potential leaders from more than 40 KZN schools, both private and rural, from various socio-economic backgrounds.

The course is a collaboration between Rotary Clubs in KwaZulu-Natal and makes a noticeable contribution to social cohesion and nation-building.
The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone Youth Committee recently offered 80 young South Africans the unique opportunity to take part in this course at Port Shepstone High, who generously made its facilities available.
Each Rotary Club sponsors two pupils from their area to ensure a broad reach into each community.
“It was a vibrant week, jam-packed with fun learning activities and visits to local businesses, including NGOs, and exposure to top-quality speakers.
“The pupils’ values, attitudes, knowledge and skills were challenged non-stop. New friendships were developed, providing a network of contacts throughout the province to serve as a springboard for promoting better understanding and awareness amongst young leaders.
Wide-ranging opportunities to grow, both as leaders and individuals, were provided and they were encouraged to leave a legacy in their schools and communities,” said Rowan D’Arcy, president of Port Shepstone Rotary Club.
