Popular Sheppie Captain says goodbye

He served the organisation for 39 years.

Port Shepstone Saps bid a fond farewell to one of their favourite captains who has served on the force for the last 39 years.

A farewell function in honour of Captain Nelson Thomas was held at the Mzimayi River Lodge in Hibberdene recently.

Captain Thomas has enjoyed a rich and fulfilling police career. He started work at Saps in January 1980 and subsequently served at the Saps garage, VISPOL, Community Service Centre, and as station commander for Paddock Saps, but brings a close to his career as a fleet manager at the Supply Chain management division of Saps.

Captain Thomas has received numerous medals and commendations during his police career for his constant dedication and unwavering commitment.

At the farewell function UGU Cluster Commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele presented him with a certificate of dedication, excellence and appreciation for his unbroken service.

His colleagues, who had served with him for many years, wished him well in his retirement. He will be missed by his Saps family, especially the members at supply chain who worked closely with him and formed strong bonds of friendship with him.
