According to the municipality’s communications manager, Sphelele Cele, the focus will be on street lights in Scottburgh North and South, Park Rynie, Pennington, Freeland Park, Umzinto, Shayamoya, Mthwalume, Sezela, Elysium, Esperanza, Kelso and Ifafa.

The plan will be executed concurrently with the Pothole Patching Plan being implemented in Umzinto on Park Rynie, Textile, Glen Terrace and Hazelwood Roads.

In Freeland Park, the teams will be working on Freeland, Short and Sylvia Roads, with work expected to commence on Mallet Avenue, Gardner Street, Preston Road and Marine Drive in Park Rynie soon.

Work will be done on Williamson Street, David Road, Marion Avenue, Davellen Road and Glen Avenue in the Scottburgh.

“The municipality will announce each week the dates on which these teams will be working which areas, and urges communities to be patient during the course of the work, which is expected to last several months.

“Areas with roads and street lights that need attention and which are not included in the approved schedule are advised that the municipality will review the plan and identify more areas that need maintenance,” Ms Cele said.

These will be attended to during the next maintenance phase.

All expenditure on this maintenance of street lights and roads will be conducted as per the approved budget for the 2019/2020 financial year.
