Margate Moves: ‘Christmassy’ choral concert soon

Traditional carols and Christmas songs will be on the programme at the Hibiscus Choir’s annual festive season concert at Ramsgate Lions’ Club’s community centre in Glenmarkie Road on Saturday, December 7 from 6.30pm.

Marico Moon time

Herman Charles Bosman fans are in for a treat. That wonderful teller of Bosman tales, Barbie Meyer, will by popular demand, perform ‘Marico Moon’ at Riverbend Crocodile Farm next Saturday, November 30 at 6.30pm for 7pm.

But even if you have not read Bosman, the compilation of stories that make up ‘Marico Moon’ will delight as Meyer has perfected the veldskoen-wearing, pipe-smoking Oom Schalk. Seating is limited and booking is essential. For more information and to book phone 039 3166204 or 067 0876163.

Trail along

The Southern KZN branch of Wessa invites nature lovers to enjoy a gentle ramble through the circular Kongweni River Reserve in Winston Road in Margate this Saturday (23rd) from 9am.

The trail will take ramblers through grass and wetlands as well as a forest boasting indigenous flora.

It is advisable to wear a hat and take along a walking stick. Remember to pack a picnic, refreshments especially water and chairs.

Catch Faye and Wren

Acclaimed singer, songwriter Wren Hinds is back in his hometown of Ramsgate this weekend. And this Saturday (23rd) the Faye and Wren Band will play at Ramsgate’s rustic music venue, Rocky Ridge. And as an added treat drummer Gabriela Konrad from the Czech Republic will ‘beat it’ too.

Faye Oakes and Wren are a special force who effortlessly combine classical, jazz, country and folk in their own unique approach to songwriting. Kitchen and venue open at 6pm and the band plays from 8pm. Entry is R50 per person.

Do diarise the two-day ‘Migrate Music Festival’ that takes place at Rocky Ridge on December 7 and 8.

Speedy recovery
