Workshop showcases opportunities
The delegates gained knowledge on how to broaden their scope of business by tapping into the ocean economy.
BUSINESS owners from the Umdoni area recently attended an ‘ocean economy opportunities’ workshop, presented by Umdoni Municipality’s Local Economy Development office in collaboration with the Moses Kotane Institute.

The delegates gained knowledge on how to broaden their scope of business by tapping into the ocean economy (also known as the blue economy).
Topics of discussion included marine transport and manufacturing, boat building, coastal and marine tourism and aquaculture.
“Over and above gaining invaluable information on these often-overlooked opportunities, this workshop has also created a platform to an open dialogue on issues pertinent to the ocean economy,” said Umdoni Municipality communications manager, Sphelele Cele.
