SEVERAL videos have surfaced on various social media platforms exposing the state of Scottburgh beach on December 1, the beginning of the festive season.
People were outraged after seeing how much rubbish had been left on the beach and vented their frustration on a Facebook group where the video was posted, branding it “disgraceful” and “disgusting”.

In one of the videos, holidaymakers are seen trying to clean up the mess near the swimming pool.
The woman who recorded these videos asked to remain anonymous and has since met with Umdoni Municipality’s new general manager of community services, Trevor Khanyile.
Some of the new general manager’s key areas of performance include beach management.
On Tuesday morning this week, Expanded Public Works Programme and other municipal employee were seen cleaning up the beach.
