Uvongo beach open for swimming

Final tests have concluded that the water is safe for swimming.

After Uvongo beach was closed earlier this week due to  a sewage spill, the Environmental Services has conducted final tests and certified that the water is safe for swimming.

“The Ugu Disaster Management will remove the prohibitory signage and bathers can enjoy the beach.  Ugu Sanitation Services will continue working hand in hand around the clock throughout the season to ensure that all our beaches remain open and safe for recreation,” said spokesman, France Zama.

 He added that there was no spillage at St Mike’s beach.
