Get into the swing of the festive season and check out the events taking place this month.
* If in Margate, the Mardi Gras is your go-to this December 12, 19, 14, 27 and January 3 and 9 from 6pm to 10pm. This street party on the main thoroughfare through Margate with live entertainment offers stalls selling sweet treats, arts and crafts and a host of great goodies. * Everyone is invited to share and rejoice in the spirit of Christmas. Bring your family and friends along to carols by candlelight services at Lot 7, Fynn Land Albersville, Pelican Road, Port Shepstone today, Saturday, December 14 at 6pm, and on Sunday, December 15 at Merlewood Playground at 4pm.
* A day of discovery and entertainment awaits at the third annual Mpenjati Eco Festival, at the Whitehouse at Mpenjati Nature Reserve on Monday, December 16 from 8am to 7pm. Funds raised from the day will go towards the Mpenjati Honorary Officers.
Families, visiting guests and the local community can enjoy a programme filled with trail walks, children’s activities, guest speakers, exhibits and local unplugged music – all aimed at inspiring communities to live more consciously and in harmony within the environment.
Wrapping up the festival will be a carols by candlelight service from 6pm to 7pm.

* The Green Net will hold a screening of the French documentary ‘Tomorrow’ at the Venture Inn Bar and Restaurant on Saturday, December 21 from 2pm to 5pm.
The award-winning documentary film focuses on the positive work being done to overcome current challenges and to find more sustainable ways of living.

* South African singer, songwriter, and record producer, Jeremy Loops and Snotkop will perform at San Lameer on Friday, December 27 from 5pm to 10pm.
* Holiday fun events take place at Ramsgate Beach on the 23rd, 24th and 27th and Margate Beach on the 28th and 29th.
* Southbroom New Year’s Eve Beach Party will once again take place at Southbroom beach on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31 from 6pm. There will be a hot line-up of DJs including Chunda Munki and a mind-blowing sound and lighting rig.
* Don’t forget to support the Lower South Coast SPCA gift wrapping tables at the Southcoast Mall this month.
