Dry start to Christmas in Lions Grove
According to an Ugu official, vandalism is to blame.
An Ugu official has confirmed that the water supply interruption in Lions Grove, Sastri Road, Indira Road and Jesus Location in Bhobhoyi and Marburg is due to vandalism.
The areas have been without water for the past three days, and frustrated residents say they have been struggling to get firm answers from Ugu.
According to one resident, to date no water tankers had been seen. “Why is it that we have problems every year during the festive season?” they asked.
According to a source at Ugu, a reservoir feeding these areas had been vandalised over the weekend.
Blockages caused by wood and logs were apparently removed, but supply was still affected.
The official confirmed that a case had been opened with the police, and it was hoped supply would be restored later today (Tuesday).
