It’s party time – make a note of these festive events
There's no excuse not to have loads of fun.
The festive season is here, check out the events taking place this month and where you can welcome in the New Year.
Tuesday, December 24
* Ugu’s South Coast Tourism’s Summer Sizzle programme offers great fun activities and giveaways at Margate beach on the 24th, 28th and 29th, from 10am to 2pm.
Friday, December 27
* South African singer, songwriter, and record producer, Jeremy Loops and Snotkop will perform at San Lameer on Friday, December 27 from 5pm to 10pm.
* Fun holiday events take place at Ramsgate beach on December 23rd, 24th and 27th, and on Margate beach on the 28th and 29th.
Saturday, December 28
* The Shree Hanuman Sanathan Dharma Sabha Mandir in partnership with SA Promotions presents a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance, with live entertainment by Abdul Rahim Rassool, Khilona Sounds and Nagara Entertainers from Durban. Locals and visitors can look forward to a night of bhangra, classics and chutney music. The event takes place at Marburg Secondary School hall on Saturday, December 28 at 6pm. Cost is R180 per person and the dress code is smart casual.
The event is a fund-raiser for the Mandir. Tickets will be sold at Sheppie Green Grocers, Window Scene and Anoop’s Studio. Tickets are also available from members of the Mandir.

Monday, December 30
If in Margate, the Mardi Gras is your go-to this December 30 and January 8 from 6pm. This street party takes place on the main thoroughfare and offers live entertainment, stalls selling sweet treats, arts and crafts and a host of great goodies. For stall enquiries, contact 072 5614854.
Sunday, December 31
* Southbroom’s annual New Year’s Eve Beach Party will once again take place at Southbroom beach on Tuesday, December 31 from 6pm.
There will be a hot line-up of DJs including Chunda Munki and a mind-blowing sound and lighting rig.
* Rocky Ridge in Ramsgate is hosting a fabulous New Year’s Eve party featuring red-hot outfit `Radiorush’.
Doors open at 8pm on December 31st and it’s a great place to welcome in 2020.
* Don’t forget to support the Lower South Coast SPCA gift-wrapping tables at the Southcoast Mall this month.
