Constables welcomed to SAPS family
She stressed that they must adhere to the police dress code when on duty and they must always carry out and personally uphold the law.
Thirty-four constables were warmly welcomed by Ugu Cluster Commander Major General Sethenya Nxamagele and local senior management at the SAPS Port Shepstone conference room last Sunday.
Trained police officials who have completed the Basic Police Development Learning Programme have been divided up and placed at four main stations – Port Shepstone, Margate, Harding and Scottburgh – to assist during the busy festive season.

After season, the policemen and women will be permanently based at the 16 stations throughout Ugu District.
Major General Nxamagele pointed out to the group of men and women that they were selected out of thousands of applicants and they must take care of their jobs.
She stressed that they must adhere to the police dress code when on duty and they must always carry out and personally uphold the law.
She will not tolerate undisciplined members and those found on the other side of the law will face the consequences.
Major General Nxamagele said the new constables must go out there an make a difference.
She warned them of the criminals out there and the need to be extra vigilant when patrolling shopping outlets.
“Move around with your eyes open and be aware of suspicious persons.”
