Sarel rescues a mamba from Glenmore beach
It was a mission not impossible thanks to the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Fire Department. The rescue drama attracted a crowd who watched in amazement as the men worked carefully to remove the snake unharmed.
Snake catcher, Sarel van der Merwe will go any lengths to rescue a reptile.

Earlier this week, Sarel received a phone call from the Glenmore Ski-boat Club about a green mamba had slithered into a drain pipe, which feeds onto the busy beach.
Sarel sprang into action.
He battled to get the snake out, so called the crew from the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Fire Department for help.
The ever- obliging crew helped Sarel by flushing the snake from the drain using a hose.
The plan worked, and Sarel saved the beauty!
