A man was shot and killed on a farm in Marina Beach on New Year’s Day.
According to police, the man (30) believed to be an employee on the farm, was asleep in the staff quarters at about 8.20pm when he and his girlfriend were awoken by a noise.

“When he went to investigate, he was met by an intruder who shot and killed him,” said Margate police spokesman, Sergeant Sbu Ncane.
A suspect (31) was arrested in the Oshabeni area on January 2, and an unlicensed firearm and nine rounds of ammunition were seized.
The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain whether it can be linked to other crimes.
The suspect appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on January 3.
He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on January 16.
Margate Saps station commander Brigadier William Slabbert applauded detectives for the swift arrest.
