The Legends band is playing at Fisherman’s Net on on Friday, February 7, supporting new owners, Joanne and Rob Nelson, who are enjoying being in Southbroom.
In sad news, long-time South Coast resident, Isabel Schultz (Feinberg) died earlier this month, aged 81.
Her service was held at St Margaret’s Anglican church in Margate and conducted by reverends Jenny Mitchell, John Alexander and Ronnie Alexander.
Many old friends and colleagues gathered together, sharing memories with one another after many years.
Isabel arrived on the South Coast in 1962 as a nurse at the Port Shepstone Hospital. She met and married Dr Solly Feinberg in 1963.
Over the years, she was involved and helped in many charitable fields, especially Margate Primary School, which their children, Kathy and Kevin attended.
Isabel was also a regular blood donor. She was a member at Southbroom Tennis Club, spending many happy hours of fellowship enjoying the sport and camaraderie.
Dr Solly and Isabel were involved in Rotary, giving of their time to host Rotary exchange students.
In 2004 she married Ron Schultz and, as a couple, they were very involved in the numerous activities at St Margaret’s Anglican Church.
She will be sorely missed.
Long-standing Southbroom Golf Club member Brian Brasher died on January 18. He was a quiet, dedicated and well-respected man who everybody enjoyed playing a game of golf with.
Brian worked in the mining industry and had a fantastic reputation as a shaft sinker, working in many countries in a very specialised and dangerous field.
Brian helped and advised the club on numerous projects on the golf course over the years.
Even when his health was poor he would come and visit the pro shop and club to chat and catch up and practice a bit and enjoy the camaraderie in the bar.
Condolences are extended to his wife Heather, son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Anna-Grett and grandsons Kyle and Craig.
Trevor Kroon, affectionately known as Southbroom’s ‘Marmalade King’ died on January 22 from heart failure.
An avid reader, Trevor made good use of the Southbroom library which was also the delivery point for the many jars of marmalade that were ordered.
