Gauteng floods affect South Coast service

Along with the rest of the country, the Port Shepstone licensing department cannot process learner's and driver's licences applications or renewals.

Floods in Gauteng have caused delays with the application and issuing of learner’s and driver’s licences, affecting operations at Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs) across the country.

According to Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, it too has been affected. Spokesman Simon April said the Port Shepstone DLTC was currently unable to connect to the Live Enrolment Unit (LEU) server.

“This problem which started on Monday this week is due to the floods experienced in Gauteng province. This problem of connectivity affects all DLTCs across the country.” The LEUs are used to perform eye tests for learner’s and driver’s licence applications and card renewals and without these eye tests applications cannot be completed.

“Management of our DLTC is in constant contact with the National Department of Transport however there is no indication as to how long this problem will persist and the inconvenience caused is regrettable,” added Mr April.
