No one home at Southport Police Station

Southport resident Ann Low was met with closed doors when she visited Southport Police Station last Saturday.
Ms Low had gone to the station at 11.20am to get an affidavit, but found the charge office closed and not a soul in sight.

“I found it very strange that there was no staff on the property. There were two cars and a police vehicle parked there, but no-one was around to assist,” she said.
“What is most worrying is if there was an emergency, who would we approach for help?”
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said the Cluster Commander was investigating.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the police officers on duty were attending to a house breaking during that period.
“The investigation will focus on why alternative arrangements were not made to ensure that police officers were available to man the Service Complaints Centre whilst the patrol van was attending to complaints.”
