The event officially introduced The Green Net to the community.

The Green Net, a community-based environmental organisation which works in the Ugu region, held its official launch at Melville Sanctuary of Love recently.

Helen Dodge, founder of The Green Net, said this organisation is an effective way for environmental activists to communicate. “We focus on supporting and promoting our work on caring for our environment.

“We hope to evolve to face up to issues such as pollution which in all its various forms, causes immense damage to our environment. Therefore it is important to prevent all these forms to look forward to a greener, cleaner and much more pleasant living experience”

She added her organisation’s number one priority was environmental protection and improvement of the health of the environment.

“One of the organisation’s roles is to provide a common network/ database of environmentalists and green technologists in the area, to provide all-round support and opportunities for collaboration.”

Ms Dodge added that now was the time to be proactive and create sustainable solutions for the region.
