New chapter for charity shop

The shop has been renamed Three Charities at Spillers and as its name implies, it will raise funds for three charities - Hibiscus Animal Welfare, Harmony Hill Rescue Haven and Cats Cradle.

Penny Taylor of Harmony Hill Rescue Haven has taken over the Spiller’s Girls’ Charity Shop at Spiller’s Wharf in Port Shepstone.

Penny and her delightful team will now run the shop which has since 2009 raised funds for Elaine Steabler’s Hibiscus Animal Welfare.

The shop has been renamed Three Charities at Spillers and as its name implies, it will raise funds for three charities – Hibiscus Animal Welfare, Harmony Hill Rescue Haven and Cats Cradle.

The rebranded shop officially opened on Tuesday this week and will operate from Tuesdays to Sundays between 10am and 4pm.

It is closed on Mondays.

The funds raised for Hibiscus Animal Welfare will go towards the feeding of nine feral cat colonies, and assisting with sterilisations.

Harmony Hill Rescue Haven currently has 14 puppies and many rescue dogs to feed and look after.

The funds raised will be used for animal outreach projects.

Cats Cradle will use the funds raised for the rehabilitation and rehoming of cats and kittens.

Now is the time to clean out your cupboards and donate to the shop.

“If you are one of those people who would like to help with animal rescue but don’t know how, you can start by having a spring clean and donating your unwanted goods,” said Penny.

All donations are welcome – anything from books, clothes, cushions, toys, to household items and plants will be gratefully received.

Drop donations off at the shop, or contact Penny via SMS or WhatsApp at 082 7190838 to arrange for collection.

Penny is hoping to also offer craft lessons at the shop in the future, so watch this space.
