TRRA secretary, Ann-Sophi Santos said the collaboration between the TRRA and TCG has resulted in shared visions becoming a reality in the village.

“Together, we decided that a fun golf day would be an excellent opportunity to promote the volunteer work of both groups to our local communities. “Both groups share a passion for conservation and protection of our indigenous flora and wildlife, keeping our marine protected area pristine and our village litter and snare free,” she said.
Projects underway in the village include re-establishing the walking trail through the Trafalgar Valley and spearheading regular patrols for snares and signs of plant poaching.

The peace and tranquillity of a local restaurant was shattered on Saturday afternoon when an elderly patron mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brakes as she parked her car. The vehicle slammed into a big tree (nicknamed the ‘treasure tree’ as people hang all sorts of quirky paraphernalia in its branches) which shuddered and dropped a rusting old bike perched on a branch. The falling bike knocked into a seated customer and a cement block injured another customer. The three women were badly shaken and taken to hospital by ambulance. The car was a write-off.

The proprietor of the restaurant, Lawrence Oosthuizen said: “This accident could have been far more serious.
“Two volunteers of the NSRI station 32 (Port Edward) arrived at the scene very quickly and assessed the injuries. Their professionalism was very impressive. All three women were later sent back home with minimal scrapes and bruises.”
