Covid-19: 2 deaths, 19 confirmed cases reported in Ugu District

eThekwini  has recorded the highest death rate in KZN at 80% followed by King Cetshwayo District at 8% and Ugu District at 5%.

KwaZulu-Natal premier, Sihle Zikalala gave a breakdown of Covid-19 cases in the province yesterday (May 10) since the start of level 4 lockdown.
So far, the Ugu District has 19 confirmed cases, including 2 deaths.
KZN accounts for 15% of total laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country.

The median number of new patients reported in the province is 19 cases daily with eThekwini and ILembe districts contributing the highest number of cases daily.

As of  May 9, the province had a total of 135 hospitalised patients; 46 admitted in the private sector and 92 in the public sector.  Thirteen patients were in intensive care.

The province also had 43 deaths recorded in 5 of the 11 districts – eThekwini  has recorded the highest death rate of 80% followed by King Cetshwayo District at 8% and Ugu District at 5%.

As of May 10, KZN had 1353 confirmed cases of the virus.
