A statement on Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s website said the call was ‘urgent and important’. RNM spokesman Simon April confirmed that this was legitimate. “We are pleading for cooperation with this call from the management of Gamalakhe CHC,” he said.
Earlier this month, the Department of Heath confirmed that a health worker at the centre had tested positive for Covid-19 and services at the centre were suspended for a few days. The centre has since re-opened after being thoroughly sanitised.
