73kg of dagga recovered in Link Road, Umtentweni

A man (34) was arrested after police received a tip-off while conducting stop-and-search operations.

Cannabis weighing roughly 73kg and with a street value of around R733 000 was discovered at a home in Link Road, Umtentweni on Tuesday this week.

Lt-Col Jacobus Barnard, the Commander of the Port Shepstone Tactical Response Team led his team to the Umtentweni area during high visibility patrols last Tuesday morning.

They were conducting stop-and-search operations in Abingdon Road when they received information of a man selling drugs at a residence in Link Road.

Port Shepstone Saps spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge said the man (34) was arrested and charged.  “He was released on bail and will appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, June 4.”
