It's the first week of October. Schools return for the last term of the year. 2026 seems to have flown by.
Matric exams, matric dances, year-end celebrations – it's all on our doorsteps. I imagine there are mixed feelings among learners, educators, and parents.
Thanks to Cameron Cooper for caring enough to pick up a young child who had escaped home (mini-Houdini) and was walking along the R102. Pennington has caring people.
• The Sanctuary of the Great White Light, 9 Barrow Street, Umkomaas, will be holding a Clairvoyant Day this Saturday (10th), from 09:00 – 14:30. Different healings will be available as well. For more information, contact Gayle Weston on 083-654-5261.
• There is a golf day fundraiser for Shaninlea Visser at Umdoni Park Golf Club this Sunday (11th). The format is Betterball Stableford. One lucky player will win a getaway voucher valued at R10 950, or R10 000 for a hole-in-one on the7th. For further information, contact 039-975-1320.
• Pennipainters is a ladies' art group. They meet at Relton Hall every Wednesday at 10:00 to paint, exchange ideas, and drink coffee. If you’re an enthusiastic artist, pop in and paint any Wednesday. • A family fun day will be held at Scottburgh Primary School on October 17, from 15:00 to 20:00.
