Dumpsite catches fire at Oatlands
The municipality cannot say for sure when it will be reopened.
A section of the dumpsite at Oatlands in Margate caught alight during the early hours of this morning.
As a result, the site has been closed while fire and rescue staff are at work.
Simon April, spokesman for Ray Nkonyeni municipality, said fire and rescue staff were attending to the fire and it was anticipated that the fire should hopefully be extinguished by the end of today as it is deep seated.

“We are have an excavator that is also assisting in cutting up sections of the affected areas. We can report that were no injuries,” he said.
