Watch: Fire at sub-station in Margate and on farms in Port Edward

Fire fighters had their hands full on a very windy afternoon and evening.

A video of a fire at a sub-station in Margate has been circulating on social media since last night.

At this stage the extent of any potential damage and subsequent effects on power supply are not certain.

However, it does seem that power supply has been restored despite the trying circumstances, although some areas may still be affected.

Meanwhile, further south, on an afternoon and evening where strong winds picked up, a number of farmers had to fight blazes on their land in the Port Edward area.

One banana farmer experienced extensive damage to his farm, but fortunately no one was harmed.

We will update once more information becomes available.
