Heroin worth R73 000 seized by South Coast police

The suspects, aged between 26 and 37 years, were arrested after they were found with 74 heroin tablets, 72 plastic packets of heroin and 225 capsules of the drug.

Four people were recently arrested for being in possession of drugs with an estimated street value of R73 000.

The arrests were the result of an operation carried out at Mkholombe, the Ryder Street taxi rank and in Nelson Mandela Drive last Friday, October 2.

The suspects, aged between 26 and 37 years, were arrested after they were found with 74 heroin tablets, 72 plastic packets of heroin and 225 capsules of the drug.

“The recent arrests and the recovery of drugs in the province proves that we are determined to clean up our streets from the drug lords,” said the acting KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thulani Gonya.

“The widespread use and dealing in drugs remains a priority for the South African Police Service, and the team from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit will continuing with their mandate to clean up the streets.”
