Umkomaas policeman enters retirement
Captain SR Dhaja consistently went the extra mile to mentor his peers and protect the greater community.
Umkomaas Saps bids farewell to Captain Sadanund Ramjee Dhaja after 39 years of dedication and faithful service.
Captain Dhaja leaves behind a legacy of discipline, expertise and unwavering commitment to the badge.
He served for 29 years as a captain and holds a B Tech degree in policing.
He has also completed numerous specialised police courses over the years, and his service has been recognised nationally with seven meritorious medals awarded throughout his career.
Dhaja also received a Deed of Commission Officer certificate from the late president Nelson Mandela.
His vast fountain of expertise was forged across multiple stations and specialised units in KZN.
He executed his duties with the utmost decorum at Ezingoleni, Umzinto, Empangeni, Port Shepstone, the area commissioner’s office in Umzimkhulu, and finally Umkomaas Saps.
Captain Dhaja brought strategic precision to his roles as a crime intelligence officer in Empangeni, acting station commander in Umzinto and as the designated firearms officer at the area commissioner’s office.
In his final role as relief commander, Captain Dhaja was the backbone of daily operations, renowned for his strict adherence to national instructions, flawless execution of daily parades, and meticulous inspections.
He consistently went the extra mile to mentor his peers and protect the greater community.
Captain Dhaja is wished a happy retirement by the management and staff of Umkomaas Saps, together with his entire Saps family.
