Tuning In: We need the rain, but not the mess
I realise that the rain has been welcome and necessary and the answer to the phrase: “we need the rain”; however, six dogs and three cats mean many paw prints, not only in my heart but all over the floors!
It’s the beginning of a new month – the 10th month of the year.
Christmas decorations are in the supermarkets and soon we will hear the sound of Boney M!
The grade 12s start their final exams in a year that must have been filled with disappointment for them. No celebrations, as has been the case in the past.

Over the weekend they would make a dash for the door and then come to a complete halt and look up at me with disdain.
I can’t believe I actually felt guilty that it was raining! Sunday morning we walked in the rain. It worked well.
And on the subject of animals – it is when you have six dogs following you that you realise how many times you change your mind while walking around from room to room!

Congratulations to June and Valen Cilliers on their 68th wedding anniversary.
Valen was the most amazing cartoonist. He drew a number of cartoons for the Mid South Coast Mail over the years – the one I recall best was of Werner Holtzhausen getting away from a crocodile while paddling the Amahlongwa river!
Esme and Les Collins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the Midlands with family.
Great news – the libraries are open. I handed my books back – have had them since March. And no fines!
Oh the roads. Oh the potholes. Aren’t there people working for the municipality who are in charge of fixing roads? What are they doing? Are they working?

I know that the community will join me in sending heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Rene van Vuuren who passed away in a car accident last weekend.
