Good detective work leads to conviction
Sergeant Siyabonga Gasa from the Harding detective branch, who has been a detective for 15 years, was pleased with the outcome of the case.
Three men were sentenced recently in the Izingolweni Magistrate’s Court for the murder of Mpumelelo Ndaleni (37) of Mkhoba Ward, Harding.
Magistrate Levien Yengopal was on the bench.
Bhekisisa Sithole (48) of Ngqolo Ward, Bheki Dlamini (48) of Nkungwini Ward and Nhlakanipho Di (35) of Ngqolo Ward were sentenced to 22 years in jail for murder and six years for assault/grievous bodily harm.
On December 25, 2017, the three men approached a parked taxi in their vehicle.
In the taxi were three brothers, enjoying the Christmas Day festivities.
An argument broke out and the trio left, later returning armed with knobkerries, knives and a firearm, which was not used in the crime.
They went straight to Ndaleni and fatally stabbed him. His brother was also stabbed in the arm.
Sergeant Siyabonga Gasa from the Harding detective branch traced Sithole to Gauteng, where he was arrested.
Sgt Gasa who has been a detective for 15 years, was pleased with the outcome of the case.
